Cowardly pair burgle pensioner’s flat

Two cowardly burglars stole more than £450 in cash from a pensioner’s flat in Long Crendon.

Police are looking for the men who broke into the flat in Abott Ridge between 8pm and 8.30pm on Sunday.

The pair, wearing black gloves, turned up in a black VW car, scaled the back garden fence and then raided the home for £467.50

The men are white and approximately in their late teens to early 20s.

PC Sam Stansbie said: ‘This was a cowardly crime, in which an elderly person was targeted and cash stolen. I am keen to speak to anyone who saw these men in the area or has any information which may aid the police investigation.

“I would also like to raise awareness and urge people to verify the identity of strangers who call at their homes, either by asking to see their identity card or by calling the company or organisation they claim to be from and checking with them.

“Never let someone into your home without doing this. If you see anyone acting suspiciously near a property, please contact the police via the 101 number”.

If you have any information call PC Stansbie via the 24 hour non-emergency number 101.

If you don’t want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org
