The Oxford Road roundabout will finally be remodelled more than four years after two cars damaged it.

County council is going to replace the current roundabout outside Aylesbury College with three ‘bell’ bollards in its place.

The cast iron bollards will provide a stronger structure and increase visibility for road users.

The work will begin on Monday August 5 and last three weeks. Road markings near the site will also be repainted and all signs will be replaced.

The bus lane will be suspended and traffic entering Aylesbury from the Oxford direction will use it during the works.

Traffic for the college will follow a diversion from the Aylesbury Town Centre direction.

Council chief for planning and transportation Janet Blake said: “This is a great opportunity to not only make the roundabout safer and look more appealing but also to give the surrounding area some attention. This is a great example of getting as much work done in one area under one traffic management arrangement whilst causing the minimum amount of disruption to the road user.”
