What a difference a week can make as Thame’s poor batting display meant they lost easily to a well oiled Great Brickhill side at Church Meadow on Saturday.
Thame were thrilling with the bat last week but they only managed to record 95 all out as wickets tumbled rapidly. Only Ed Barnett posted a reasonable score and Thame couldn’t even try to hold out for a draw.
In contract Brickhill, who batted first, posted a sound 215 for 6 after 53 overs.
Thame’s Ian McStay took a solid two wickets for 36 but it was never enough to stop the rot.
In the Twenty/20 Bernard Tollett competition, Thame fared much better and defeated East Oxford by 89 runs in the first round.
Deon Laubscher scored 88 in 15 overs and James Neilsen was 34 not out as Thame finished on 150 for 2 in the reduced 16 overs.
East Oxford struggled all day and were quickly all out for 61.
Ollie Sutcliffe was Thame’s star bowler taking two wickets for nine runs.
Meanwhile, Thame Seconds lost to Great Brickhill Seconds by six wickets and Thame Thirds just failed to beat Oxford and Bletchingdon.
Agonisingly, they lost by just two wickets.
