The true spirit of Christmas will be alive in St Mary’s Church on December 25 when more than 100 people are treated to a free festive lunch.
The annual event at the Aylesbury church is staged by 35 volunteers, who provide a three course meal and presents for the less fortunate.
Co-ordinator Kim Walter said: “The meal is for the whole community and people that would otherwise be on their own over Christmas .
“We also cater for those with learning difficulties, or from the women’s refuge and people from all religions not just Christianity – you just have to be in need.
“On arrival the guests get a coffee and mince pie, then a three course meal.
“This year we have wedding singer Mike Carroll performing and a choir from Bishopstone who will be singing carols.
“There’s always a lovely atmosphere and I ask all the volunteers to wear Santa hats and I provide Christmas aprons.”
This year Bucks Herald reporter Andrew Kay will be volunteering, along with fiancé Emma Eyles. The pair will be on washing up duty.
