Police relocated to business park

The town’s police station is set to close, with operations being relocated to a nearby business park.

A front counter service will be maintained at the current station in Greyhound Lane, Thame, however, ensuring a police presence is kept in the town centre.

The operational side of policing team will then be transferred to the Thame Business Park.

These changes are to be introduced from Spring 2013.

Former mayor and Thame town councillor, David Bretherton, said: “I think it’s a shame as the police station has only been built fairly recently.

“It is a pity, but that’s the way it is sometimes with economics. If that’s what they need to do and it makes more sense money-wise it’s probably the best thing to do.

“At least they’re maintaining a presence in the town. But I don’t honestly think it will make a great deal of difference to be honest.

“In fact, the business park will probably be more accessible – it more than likely will be for the police any way.”
