Millions of people around the world are to benefit from an insight into the daily lives of students at an Aylesbury school.
Filming has been taking place at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School over three days for a film that will be shown to people learning English in Europe, the Far East and Latin America.
Following two Year 8 classes in particular, but also speaking to pupils around the school, the Oxford University Press project aims to help improve people’s language skills and give foreigners of the same age an insight into British life and culture.
The school became involved because of director Rob Cooke’s connections with the area and the school provided two drama pupils willing to play the major roles and read some scripted lines.
The Oxford University Press has produced a number of similar films for different age groups before as part of its ‘Project’ scheme.
The Press’ video manager for English language teaching, James Magrane, said: “Many people who work over here will have learnt their English with Project.
“The school has been incredibly cooperative. It’s very rare to find a school that embraces what we want to do and sees the importance of it.”
The video is expected to be in use in classrooms around the globe from September 2013.
