Nearly 1,000 children flooded the Thame showground for an action-packed week of activities, music, and even daily gungings.
The week-long children’s holiday club Lighthouse Thame included crafts, games and creative workshops.
The free event in the Big Top, which is now a major part of the annual Thame calendar, is organised by 19 churches and open to all ages.
Mayor of Thame, Councillor Nigel Champken-Woods, was one of those to be gunged.
He said: “Lighthouse is fantastic, you take children from such a huge age range, and they come back year on year.
“The way you take the children and develop them into leader roles for the next year is brilliant and is good for building them up.”
The event’s location had to be changed at the last minute because of the recent heavy rain, but more than 960 children still came along, and were helped by some 450 volunteers. This year even saw helpers from Mississippi fly over to join in.
Lighthouse will be returning next year from July 29 to August 2, but will most likely be at the Lord Williams’s Upper School site.
