Florence Nigthtingale Hospice paid tribute to the Thame community after its Sunny Sunflower Month raised more than £760.
The charity collected donations outside Sainsbury’s in Thame High Street last week in exchange for a free recipe from celebrity chef Lotte Duncan.
Claire White of the hospice said: “On behalf of everyone involved, I would like to say a very big thank you to local people.
“Over £760 was raised in total, which is the equivalent of funding seven patient appointments at our Lymphoedema Clinic.
“This specialist clinic helps reduce swelling, pain and discomfort in the limbs often associated with cancer, through massage and bandaging.
“Also, I must say a very big thank you to all our volunteers who gave up their time to help support the appeal on the day.”
She added that the hospice is always in need of an extra pair of hands, particularly with its busy calendar of events.
If anyone is able to support the charity by volunteering for a couple of hours a week or whenever they can, they can call volunteer services manager Sue Jenkins on 01296 332600.
The event was one of many the hospice is hosting throughout the year in a bid to raise the £600,000 necessary to help maintain services for families affected by life-limiting illnesses.
On July 14, Florence Nightingale’s third Midnight Walk is taking place.
It is the charity’s biggest fundraiser of the year which has so far raised more than £120,000 since it started in 2010.
The two routes cover six and 13 miles and so far 580 ladies have signed up to take on the walking challenge around the streets of Aylesbury by night.
The event starts at Aylesbury College at 10pm.
