As disco fever descended on Thame at the weekend, the town’s mayor said it was a throwback to ‘just like carnivals used to be’.
More than 1,500 people turned up to Saturday’s event which saw a disco-themed parade led by firefighters travel through the town centre.
The carnival saw music and floats carrying people and dancers of all ages dressed in curly afro wigs, bell bottoms and medallions.
The Black Horse pub was honoured for having the best float which mayor of Thame, Nigel Champken-Woods, said ‘was down to them clearly having spent a long time on it – and because they were the loudest’.
“The whole day was great, it was absolutely fantastic,” he said.
“It was really nice to see floats on the back of lorries again, which is something I haven’t seen for a while.”
