Chinnor held off a late rally from Old Elthamians to record a 39-31 victory for their fifth win in six games which further increases the distance between themselves and the bottom three in National League Division Two South.
The first half belonged to Chinnor who gained the bonus-point try as early as the 28th minute.
Sam Angell began the scoring with a dart through from midfield after a Chinnor line-out before Olly Vidgeon danced through to bring the visitors level at 7-7.
Chinnor then hit a purple 10 minute patch with tries from Jonathan Phipps and a double from Oscar Heath before Junior Fatialofa joined the back of a rolling maul for another try.
Fatialofa was then sin-binned and Old Elthamians seized the opportunity to come back with a try on half time from Dewale, cutting the Chinnor lead to 31-14 at half-time.
Although Chinnor scored again quickly after the restart through Henry Lamont, the second half saw Old Ethamians score 17 points to Chinnor’s eight.
A try from Craig Dowsett was shortly followed by a penalty try to the visitors on 68 minutes for collapsing the maul to bring the score back to 36-26.
Angell stemmed the tide for Chinnor when slotting over a penalty and that ultimately ensured victory despite visiting scrum-half Matt Bressons dotting down late on.
Chinnor are now eight points clear of the relegation zone with four games remaining, the first of those coming at Barnes this weekend.
