Americana band Hiway 51 are the headline act at the next meeting of the First Thursday Music Club in Thame.
The group will be performing in the coveted ten o’clock spot at the music club’s latest meeting at the Stables in the James Figg pub on Thursday December 4 at 8pm.
The band features Phil Carwardine, owner of Vintage & Modern Guitars, based in the Cornmarket, Thame, who will be playing the guitar.
Other band members include Ingma Paul (upright bass) and Paul Barker (vocals and guitar).
The band are set to play classic tunes from artists including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, Ricky Nelson and Chet Atkins as well as some of their own music.
First Thursday Music Club master of ceremonies Phil Westerman said: “It is great to have Hiway 51 playing after ten o’clock.
“They reproduce fifties and sixties country rock music and it will be great to have them here.
“The band also play on equipment from that era which is brilliant.”
Phil said that the First Thursday Music Club had grown enormously since its founding.
He said: “Over time it has changed from being a fun open mic evening to a major social event in Thame.
“We have more than 200 people attending each month and it is the biggest open mic night in the district.
“No-one could have envisaged how big it has become now.
“It is a real team effort to put it on and the best thing is that it is all free.”
A raffle is being held at the December meeting with the prize of a Fender acoustic guitar.
If you would like to play, you can sign up between 7.30pm and 7.45pm.
