Today (Sunday) is the last chance to see the Friars exhibition at Bucks County Museum, where there will be special tours by the club’s supremo David Stopps.
More than 2,000 people have visited, some who have moved away from the area, returning specially to see it. These include folk from London, Cardiff and Sunderland as well as even further afieldfrom Dublin, Germany, Canada and Australia.
David Erskine, visitor services manager at the museum, said: “It has been great to have rock music in the museum galleries and to have had the opportunity to celebrate this important part of Aylesbury culture.
“The exhibition has attracted a wide range of visitors and it has brought back so many fantastic memories for people who grew up in Aylesbury in the 70s and 80s, and the important part that Friars played in their youth.”
Items in the exhibition include the 1970s drum kit belonging to Nick Mason of Pink Floyd; Mick Rutherford of Genesis’ famous double necked guitar; stage costumes from Toyah and Howard Jones’ 1980s synthesiser rig.
The exhibition is open 10am-5pm.
