Thame held to goalless draw

Neither Thame United nor Wootton Bassett Town were able to break the deadlock when the two teams met in an uninspiring game at the ASM Stadium on Saturday.

In Thame’s penultimate home league game of the season, they had more possession but were unable to convert chances into goals.

Thame’s best chance of the first half fell to Niall Hodgkins, who received the ball with his back to goal and hit a strong low shot which flew inches wide in a the closest either side came to a goal in the first period.

Within minutes of the restart, Luke Ricketts’s lob landed just over and while the game ebbed and flowed, both defences dominated until a flurry of late chances saw Lee Farrow forced into a superb save before both Ricketts and Alex Kedzierski were denied by the visiting goalkeeper.

On Tuesday evening, Thame were beaten 2-1 by Briscombe and Thrupp.
