Employment in Thame third best in the country

Thame is the third best place in the country for employment – according to the latest research.

There are 452 unemployment benefits claimants in the Henley and Thame constituency and the figure has altered by one since January.

This represents a rate of 0.9% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64.

The number of claimants is 198 lower than in February 2013. The number of young people unemployed and claiming Job Seekers Allowance remained at 20 with a total of 10 each for Henley and Thame.

MP John Howell, said: “I am glad that the constituency is still performing very well in this area.

“This is an area in which at the depth of the recession I have spent time helping businesses maintain the numbers they employ.

“I am pleased to see that the constituency has remained stable in the past month. I feel concerned for those who are still looking for a job. We must do all we can to find them employment.”
