Do you have what it takes to lead a gargantuan town clean up?

Tidy Thame is looking for a new project leader to organise and motivate the community.

The leader would organise the annual summer town tidy-up, which aims to reduce the £900,000 annual district cleaning bill.

The scheme was founded by former mayor Adam Buckland and has been running for three years.

But Tidy Thame is now looking for a new leader, after a grant of £500 was secured from the council to ensure it can run for another year.

Lizzie Spokes, of Thame Town Council, said: “Tidy Thame is for the whole town and we look for groups to get together.

“Then it is decided what area of town they will do. It could be the local streets, or it could be a nature reserve.

“Tidy Thame has grown and we have had a massive response over the last couple of years.”

And Lizzie told how important the project is for brightening up the town.

She said: “It’s amazing how much rubbish gets dropped.

“We have pictures from last year and it’s crazy how much can be gathered in one day.”

If you think you have what it takes to lead the Tidy Thame effort in 2014 you can contact Thame Town Council on 1844 212833
