Thame Duellists competed at the Southern Fencing Championships in Fareham last weekend, with three youngsters duelling for the first time.

Isaac Salle, eight, and Hal Seed, nine, made their debuts in the U10s age group and finished a commendable 10th and 11th respectively.

Toby Hall, 13, also fenced for the first time and battled to 19th place.

Former county medallist Daniel Kovacs, 16, was fencer of the day as he reached the quarter-finals in the U18 age group.

Chairman James Kingston is hoping to attract new fencers to the club which meets on Thursday evenings at Thame Leisure Centre.

He said: “If you have ever dreamt of being one of the musketeers, come along.

“We provide the equipment, you’re in safe hands and it’s an exciting way to get fit.”
