A nursery which helps youngsters with communication problems is celebrating after being rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
The Puzzle Centre, based in Middle Claydon, was told by the watchdog that its quality of teaching is ‘inspirational’ and that children make ‘excellent progress’ as a result.
Inspectors also noted that:
> The senior management team maintain very high standards for children’s safety, well-being and learning
> Staff are always working to provide the best possible experience for all children
> Children’s individual needs are fully supported
The centre provides care for children aged two to eight.
A spokeswoman for the centre said: “For any educational settings to be awarded outstanding is now more than ever exceptional, but even more so when you consider that this standard has been maintained whilst Puzzle has to generate most of its own funding, which can be as much as £250,000 per annum to simply keep the centre open.
“The Puzzle Centre is remarkable because it provides a service that families of very young children with ASD or communication difficulties see as a lifeline.
“Almost no provision is made in the UK for children such as those nurtured at the Puzzle Centre. This is a place to champion and shout about.”
