County Hall’s grass cutting teams will soon be switching their attentions to cutting back overgrown vegetation.

The grass cutting service will end once the final cut in the urban grass cutting programme is completed by the end of October (weather dependent).

Once complete, Bucks County Council says the teams will be available to carry out ‘some quality housekeeping’ by cutting back overgrown vegetation in preparation for next summer.

Local Area Technicians for each area of the county will be liaising closely with all county councillors to make sure that areas of horticultural concern are addressed and a full programme of work is developed.

Amongst the tasks being carried out are:

> Tidying of footways

> Hedge cutting

> Clearing overhanging foliage

> Removing foliage obstructing signs

The teams will be looking to start their new areas of work by week commencing November 4.

Janet Blake, cabinet member for planning and transportation said: “Setting up the winter landscape teams is a great use of resource that’s already part of the team.

“The work they’ll do will go a long way to keeping the hedges and verges throughout the county looking good.”

There will be five teams, made up of two operatives in each, with one supervisor.

One of the teams will cut hedges using a tractor and flail.
