A schoolteacher has finally achieved his dream of buying his first home thanks a new Government-backed scheme.
Tawonga Mudarikiri and his wife Sheila have just moved into their new three-bedroom house on Persimmon Homes’ Tutor’s Gate development in Aylesbury.
The couple – who have two children aged 12 and 14 – had always rented in the past but were hooked on the new three-bedroom Epsom home from the moment they first saw it.
Mr Mudarikiri said although he had been saving for a deposit, he did not have sufficient funds to put down 20% that many mortgage lenders were looking for and Persimmon’s sales advisor suggested using the Help to Buy scheme would make the move affordable.
“We were desperate to buy our own home but thought it would always be out of our reach. But Persimmon’s sales advisor Pam Albone told us all about Help to Buy and managed to make our dream of moving into a brand new home come true.
“We have the house we have always wanted with everything finished just the way we like it. It could not be better.”
Julie Vine, field sales manager of Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, said they were delighted to have been able to help Mr Mudarikiri and his family achieve their dream.
“The Help to Buy scheme was introduced by the Government earlier this year to help families just like the Mudarikiris buy for the first time and also give growing families the chance to move up the property ladder.
“Under Help to Buy the buyer meets 75% of the cost and pays a five per cent deposit, while the Government makes up the shortfall up to 20 per cent through an equity share loan. It is already proving hugely successful.”
Tutor’s Gate is situated off Rowan Close, with 50 per cent of the properties now sold. A selection of four bedroom houses, with prices starting from £299,950, are currently available. It is located to the south of Aylesbury close to Stoke Mandeville.
