A hospice is on the hunt for volunteers to help out with street collections in Bucks.
Rennie Grove Hospice Care holds around 20 collections a year and they can bring in more than £7,000.
Volunteer Liz Green, who co-ordinates the collections, said:
Rennie Grove volunteer Liz Green, who coordinates the collections, explains: “Thanks to volunteers giving up their time and to shoppers donating generously, our street collections bring in more than £6,700 a year on average. This is enough to fund over 300hours of nursing care in patients’ homes, which can make such a difference to families facing cancer or another life-limiting illness.
“We’d love to hear from anyone of any age who has a little spare time – usually at weekends - and who would be happy to collect for an hour or more. You’ll be making a massive difference to your local community and helping the Iain Rennie and Grove House nurses meet the rising demand for our 24-hour responsive care in patients’ homes.
The next local collection is in Wendover on Saturday July 20 – six days after the hospice holds its big new fundraiser, The Walk to Remember.
Following a 10 km circular route starting and finishing in the beautiful grounds of Halton House near Wendover and including a rest stop at the charity’s Memorial Woodland in Wendover itself.
Used recently for filming of The King’s Speech and Downtown Abbey, the stunning backdrop to Halton House is not usually open to the public and is being made available to Walk to Remember participants by the kind permission of RAF Halton.
After enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Halton House, walkers will continue on into Wendover Woods and wind their way down to our Memorial Woodland near Bacombe Lane before looping round and heading back to Halton House along the Grand Union Canal.
