John Cooper took four days to complete the challenge in aid of Stop International which helps Indian orphans.

John rode with fellow Stop International trustee Kish Poddar, who founded the charity which helps orphans in Tamil Nadu in India more than a decade ago.

Both men are members of Stanborough Park Church in Watford where they help out in the Audio-Visual Department recording church services for housebound members.

John, who is in his fifties, has a long-standing interest in active hobbies including paragliding and wind surfing.

An Aylesbury resident for three decade, his training regime for the venture involved cycling to work in Stokenchuch and back each day.

He said: “I like a good challenge.

“It gives me a good feeling knowing I am doing something to help others.

“The challenge turned out much as I expected – an enjoyable workout both physically and mentally – I just have to think of the next challenge worthy of my energy!

The duo raised more than £3,000 which will help pay for the school fees of 40 children in ‘The Way to Life ‘orphanage in Tamil Nadu.
