FC boss looking ahead to derbies with ‘plenty of needle’

Aylesbury FC boss Craig Faulconbridge says there is bound to be ‘plenty of needle’ in the first competitive game between his side and the Ducks next season.

But Faulconbridge has welcomed Tony Joyce’s side to the Southern League and says it ‘can only be good for Aylesbury’.

“It’s got to be a positive for the town,” he said.

“Don’t get me wrong there will probably be plenty of needle flying around in the first game but I’m looking forward to seeing what type of team Tony puts together.

“I’ve got nothing but admiration for what he’s done there and what he’s built and it hopefully means one really big crowd guaranteed for that game.”

The clubs have a frosty relationship but like Joyce, Faulconbridge insists his focus is purely on the football.

“I don’t care for the politics, just the football side and we get to see both teams play against each other and it means another local game in what is looking like a nice league, travel wise with plenty of local derbies and local interest,” he added.
