A prisoner who absconded from a Bucks jail has gone on a crime spree while on the run.

Lyndon Stein left HMP Springhill, an open prison in Grendon Underwood, on April 29.

Since then the 49 year old has carried out a number of robberies totalling thousands of pounds, according to police.

The day after absconding Stein committed a robbery at a hair salon.

He struck again at Thomas Cook in Clifton on May 5 before going to Gloucestershire where he targeted the Leeds Building Society on May 7.

A further robbery occurred at around 2.30pm on May 9 when Stein entered the Britannia building society in Fishponds and made off with a substantial amount of money.

He then made his way to Warrington on May 15, targeting a Lloyds TSB there and Thomas Cook in Makerfield, Cheshire.

He robbed Santander in Gloucestershire on Saturday (May 18) and Thomas Cook in Kingswood shortly after 4pm on Monday (May 20).

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: “We’d like to speak to Stein or anyone who knows where he is.”

He is described as white, of a stocky build and normally carries a plastic carrier bag when committing the offences.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
