Have you ever wanted to be a character in a book? Those dreams could become reality after a groundbreaking idea from author Teri Terry.
To coincide with the launch of her latest teen novel, the Aston Clinton-based writer has an online promotion where visitors have the chance to have a character in her forthcoming third book named after them – all they have to do to enter is leave a comment.

Fractured, launched this week in the UK, is the second in Teri’s trilogy of teen novels, the rights of which have already been snapped up by the film company which made internationally successful movie The King’s Speech.
Teri, 47, said: “In my third novel I have a few secondary characters who have yet to be named. I’ll probably pick a name at random from people who visit and provided it isn’t too close to names already in the book, I’ll use it.”
After Slated and Fractured, the first two books, Teri said the third novel needed the most self discipline to achieve, but she still completed the first draft, now with the editors, in about five months. As yet, it is still untitled.
Slated, a futuristic novel aimed at 12 to 18 year olds set in 2054, tells a story depicting sinister Government control.
Would-be terrorist youngsters have their minds wiped clean and microchipped, are taken to a special ‘clinic’ to be retrained, filled with ‘happy juice’ and given a new life.
Teri starts a UK publicity tour at the end of this month and is due to appear for a book signing session at Waterstone’s bookshop in Aylesbury on May 25.
