Three village schools are in the running to win prizes worth up to £200 as they are top of the registration table for an upcoming Scootathlon event.
A quarter of the children currently signed up to take part in the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity sporty event are from Haddenham Junior, Infant and St Mary’s.
The prizes give any school across Aylesbury Vale the chance to win gardening, kitchen or arts and crafts equipment for signing up the most pupils to take part in the event and a prize for the school whose pupils raise the most in sponsorship.
Florrie’s Scootathlon will see children aged four to eight taking part in the a 400m scoot, 400m cycle and 250m run, with children aged eight to 11 taking on the Duathlon challenge of a 400m run, 800m cycle and another 400m run.
The event is taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6, at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.
Registration is £7.50 per child, which includes entry and medal on completion of the challenge.
