People are being urged to help the homeless as part of a new government initiative.
Aylesbury Vale District Council is backing ‘No Second Night’ to help identify people sleeping rough and getting them off the streets as soon as possible so they do not end up being homeless permanently.
Housing needs and advice manager Roy Brooks said: “Thankfully in Aylesbury Vale we don’t have a large number of people sleeping rough, but that doesn’t mean people should not be vigilant and report anyone they see sleeping on the streets.
“There is a great deal of support available for people who find themselves with nowhere to stay and we are committed to making sure that no-one has to spend a second night on the streets.”
A new helpline has been set up and the public and emergency services are being asked to help by reporting rough sleepers to 07793834871 or by emailing outreach@connectionsfs.org
Anyone found sleeping rough will be assessed quickly and will be helped with emergency accommodation and other services.

Bucks County Council are also supporting the scheme.
