Former Aylesbury Grammar School pupil and Aylesbury Rugby Club youngster Sam Jones continued his fine form for London Wasps in a 17-16 win at Harlequins.
After twice captaining an experimental side in the LV= Cup in previous weeks the number eight kept his spot for the Aviva Premiership match at The Stoop.
In an impressive outing Jones was named man-of-the-match as Wasps got their revenge for the opening day try fest 42-40 defeat at Twickenham.
Jones tweeted following the match: “Thanks for all the kind messages.
“Great to finally get a result against Quins, body is sore this morning but all worth it. Awesome effort by all.”
Two early tries from lightning wingers Tom Varndell and Christan Wade gave Wasps a 14-0 lead before Quins began making a comeback.
Wasps would not be undone, though, as they got their first win at The Stoop since 2007 and stayed in fourth and the crucial play-off spots in the league.
Next up for Wasps is Gloucester on Sunday.
