Friars is back and the gigs keep coming.
Hot on the heels of news last week that Friars will be back at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on May 3 for The Specials, just six days later another Friars legend is returning.
Steve Hackett will play on May 9 with Genesis Revisited.
Promoter David Stopps said: “The reaction to The Specials announcement has been amazing, both on the Friars website and on the street. People have been stopping me in the street saying how excited they are.
“We’re expecting more of the same excitement with this announcement about Steve Hackett.”
Steve’s Friars Aylesbury history is extensive. He first played on June 16, 1971 which was the famous Genesis gig where Peter Gabriel jumped into the audience and broke his ankle.
“He had a metal screw inserted in his ankle at the Royal Bucks Hospital which is still there to this day,” said Mr Stopps.
Steve then played Friars twice again with Genesis in 1972 before making a triumphant return in his own right on October 28, 1978. “He was the only artist ever to encore at Friars with a wonderful piece of solo classical guitar music,” said Mr Stopps.
Steve Hackett joined Genesis in 1971 and was a key member of the band through to his departure in 1977.
His set on May 9 will be drawn from Genesis material from that period.
Tickets costing £30 standing and £37.50 and £40.00 for seats, will go on sale on Saturday February 23 at 10am from the Waterside Box Office only.
