Hale Leys United were forced to alter their style and scrap for a 2-2 draw at Totternhoe on Saturday.
The pitch was a total mudbath but Leys quickly adapted as Carl Moreton hit an absolute screamer from 40 yards to put the shopping centre side 1-0 up.
Totternhoe sprang to life after the setback and after Leys failed to clear their lines from a free-kick the ball was eventually bundled over to make it 1-1 at half-time.
The second half was end-to-end but Leys’ Daniel Parsons took control of proceedings when he scorched past Totternhoe’s back line before cleverly finishing.
Leys were made to regret missing a gilt-edged chance, though, as Totternhoe grabbed a late equaliser.
Hale Leys host Tring Corinthians on Saturday, weather permitting (kick-off 2.45pm). A pitch inspection will be made at 10am.
