A doctor is seeking sponsorship in his bid to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in memory of his godson, who was tragically killed in a freak accident.
Pitstone GP Richard Bell will put the money towards the Peter Westropp Memorial Trust which aims to raise £250,000 for The Carers Trust .
Peter, 27, was killed while sitting outside a Clapham cafe having a coffee with friends, when a piece of masonry fell off a building and onto his head.
Dr Bell said: “It was an horrendous shock. He was one of the nicest people I know. He was a surveyor, he’d just been taken on by his company, he was in the foothills of his profession.
“He had a huge circle of friends who have set up the trust.”
Dr Bell sets off for Africa in February and will spend six days on the climb with five friends.
Anyone wishing to sponsor his efforts can call in at the surgery in Yardley Avenue in Pistone or visit http://peterwestropp.co.uk/43-events/list-of-future-events/102-richard-bell-climbs-mt-kilimanjaro
