Unpaid hospital staff take up their case with parliament

Unpaid Royal Bucks Hospital staff could be owed more than £350,000 it has emerged.

Since closing down in October, the hospital, owned by Dr James Clarke, has not paid staff months of wages or their redundancy packages.

It is estimated that 83 employees could be owed up to £3,000 each.

Seven former members of staff, Unison Bucks Health branch secretary Steve Bell and Aylesbury Vale District Councillor Michael Beall travelled to London this week to meet with Lord Hunt to raise awareness of the
issue.

Mr Beall said: “There’s plenty more businesses like this out there. We don’t want this to happen again in the future.”

Mr Bell said the Lord agreed to read out questions to Parliament regarding the matter and that Vale MP John Bercow would also be writing to Dr Clarke.

He added that the union would also be taking legal action on behalf of its members against Dr Clarke.
