Thame United hope to finally be back in action on Saturday when they host Reading Town at the ASM Stadium after an 11-day break.
Postponements over the Christmas break meant Mark West’s men had no game for 18 days and the boss was frustrated to then have no games scheduled in the past week.
United have, ironically, not played since they thrashed Town 4-0 in the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup on January 8.
West bemoaned another break in which not even the reserves had a game for him to give first team players a run out.
He said: “We’ve had two weeks off already.
“Before Christmas we were playing really well then had a break.”
While frustrated by the break West said his side are not in as bad a position as sides such as Abingdon Town and Wantage Town who have only played 17 games compared to Thame’s 23.
The break will also give the club time to recover from the Christmas break and West said in previous matches a few of the players had been ‘blowing hard’.
Despite losing their last league fixture to title chasers Slimbridge 2-1, West said he was impressed by the team’s performance.
Weather permitting, kick-off for United’s game against Town in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday is at 3pm.
