A cheque for £8,300 was donated to Stoke Mandeville’s cancer care and haematology unit following a charity fashion show.

The money was presented to the unit’s June Wilson by staff from Bedgrove’s Tramps Salon, who staged the show at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.

Tramps’ manager Serena Jebb presented the cheque to Ms Wilson OBE, the first clinical nurse specialist at the unit.

The cheque handover took place at the Bucks Yeoman pub in Bedgrove.

The ‘hair fashion and dance extravaganza’ was staged at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on October 10.

The hairdessers were able to hire the Waterside thanks to a generous £9,500 donation from Judi Ferreira whose father died of cancer.

The girls are no strangers to charity events, last year one of their members go to work with Kate Moss after the team raised £20,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The volunteer models who took part in the show were put through their paces at the studio of Aylesbury-based Paul Mitchell salon products – where each night different girls were taught the art of walking the catwalk.

House of Fraser supplied some of the clothes.

The show featured different sections, such as avant garde and bridal and six of the dresses were supplied by Aston Clinton-based The Bridal House.
