Yes because it has resulted in some serious thought being put back into the show.
Thamensian and Rosalie Gibson are so right. It must go back to September and be reborn as a true Agricultural Show and retake its place as ‘The Premier One Day Agricultural Show’.
This can’t happen if it stays in July with the accent on a Commercial Bazaar with Livestock and a Ring. The accent must return to Agriculture and Horticulture.
I read on the internet that the show has very little support from the Agricultural Community.
Is this surprising when a great many farmers and local folk objected to the move in the first place but were ignored.
Thame Show was a highlight in the farmers year. A time and place to relax and celebrate after all the hard work of the summer; to meet up; to show and to admire, and September was the right time to do it.
A good look round, a natter, the renewal of friendships, something to eat and then down to the fair to round off an enjoyable day. Only this can be reinstated by going back to the September date.
Thamensian is right to encourage the children and they should have a holiday day as they used to, and as Rosalie says, prices need to be looked at!
We know we have to move forward and the show should be moved forward to what it was in the past and fancy ideas for it forgotten. A thought – had it been in September it wouldn’t have clashed with these lesser events ...
Remembrance is getting worse and worse each year

I HAVE lived in Thame my whole life and have attended the Remembrance Service many times.
Throughout the years I’ve watched the service get worse and worse. For myself, the worst part is the terrible band who I’ve never heard play anything in time or together at a Remembrance Service and always miss out the introduction to the national anthem, leaving the parade in confusion every year.
I played for the Chinnor Silver Band for a couple of years in Chinnor and we were expected to play to a certain standard.
I must say the standard that they play to is embarrassing.
The order of service this year was completely messed up.
It should go last post, two minutes silence then reveille then the laying of the wreaths. The reveille is to represent the next chapter which is accompanied by the raising of the flags. The flag bearers looked completely confused as to what they were doing making it look really disorganised.
Being a part of the remembrance service was always a proud moment for my family.
My father was in the territorials in Cxford, I was a scouter and a member of the ATC and my parents are still members of Thame Scouts, it has always been a part of our lives to come together on Remembrance Sunday to pay our respects.
But with the present state of the service it has become embarrassing to do so. I am only 25 and I see a lot of my peers uninterested in a day that has so much importance, I believe we should get this right so that it remains so for generations to come.
