A musician has recruited his professional footballer brother, Richard Lee, for his latest music video which is inspired by a book written by the Brentford FC goalkeeper.

Michael Lee, who grew up in Longwick, was inspired by his brother’s book, Graduation; Life Lessons of a Professional Footballer, which talks about how the goalkeeper went from considering quitting the sport to claiming five player of the year awards at Brentford.

Michael wrote the song New State of Mind and asked the former Watford FC keeper to star in the video produced by Sky Sports News presenter Adam Leventhal’s company 20eleventhal Productions.

He said: “When writing the song, I drew influence from Richard’s story as well as using similar personal challenges of my own where I fell in a rut without direction.

“This song serves as a reminder that you can only achieve great things with a great state of mind.”

Michael is currently working on his second album.

The single New State of Mind sees Michael on vocals and guitar, Chris Pethers on bass and the family affair continues with younger brother, Duncan Lee, on drums.

Richard added: “I’ve been delighted by the feedback my book has received and it has far exceeded anything I could have anticipated.

“When my brother explained that he’d written a song to accompany the book, I was adamant that we needed to create a video to complement the song.

“I got in touch with Sky Sports News presenter Adam Leventhal because I knew he owned a production company and upon meeting him, I knew that he grasped exactly what I was looking for.

“It was a lot of fun to be able to create something like this. I’ve always been a big fan of my brother Michael’s work; his passion is music and to have an involvement is exciting.”
