Thame Mens first XI got back to winning ways with in a 7-5 thriller against Oxford fourths.
Thame were looking to bounce back after last weekend’s narrow loss but soon found themselves behind as the visitors played very aggressive and attacking hockey. Thame struggled to gain any control and Oxford were certain to capitalise on their opportunity and were three up after 15 minutes.
Eventually Thame started to click as Birkett scored twice either side of Sawrey-Cookson’s effort to level matters. at half-time.
Oxford again flew out the traps in the second half to regain a two goal lead.
However, Birkett dragged his team back in it firing three goals in succession to stun Oxford and take lead.
Debutant Maries finished off the match with his first goal for the club and secure three points
Meanwhile, Thame Ladies’ firsts won 3-1 in a hard fought game at Bicester.
