Chearsley needed to beat Bicester and North Oxford seconds to stand any hope of avoiding relegation and came so near to doing it.
They won the toss and decided to bat.
On a slow pitch with low bounce, scoring was never easy and Nick Grimsdell (39) and Neil Davies (34) were the pick of the batsmen, the hosts being all out in the 44th over.
R Simpson took an impressive haul of 5-41 with his off spin.
Bicester made heavy weather of it and only I Horner with an unbeaten half century prospered.
The visitors eventually got home with a little more than two overs to spare, Ed Holland taking 5-27 and Marc Hignell ended with figures of 3-35.
Meanwhile over at Bledlow, Chearsley’s seconds were taking on the hosts’ thirds.
The seconds also needed a miracle to avoid the drop, but fell well short.
Inserting the hosts they racked up 209-8 from 43 overs with R Scott making 58 whileMaloney (39) and Wagerfield (35) assisted well.
George Miller took career-best figures of 4-34.
Unfortunately, only Nick Babington made any telling contribution with 37 and they only just crept over the 100 mark. R Downes took 5-30 for the hosts.
