Thame United maintained their unbeaten start to the season after they held out for a 0-0 draw at Wokingham and Emmbrook on Tuesday.
Despite the stalemate, manager Mark West was full of praise for his side after being handed what he believed was a difficult opening to the season.
He said: “For the teams we played we have had a tough start.
“They (Wokingham) are going to be up the top of the league and we could have even edged it on the day.
“We have come away with two draws from the first two games.”
Thame welcome Holyport to the ASM Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off) in another game West believes will test their mettle.
“They have won their first two games. The teams we are playing at the moment are tough sides.
“But we have got to just play it the same way we always do.
“On our day we can beat them. We don’t approach any game differently.”
While United are still seeking their first win in the league, they enjoyed a great start to their FA Cup campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Newbury last Saturday.
West said: “It’s always nice to have a little run in the FA Cup.
“They were a tough side. The lads played really well to keep a clean sheet.”
Thame controlled the game before getting a goal in the 18th minute when Ellis Hercules struck home from 10 yards after a goalmouth scramble.
Hercules’ goal was one of few highlights and West was reluctant to single out any individuals.
“It was a good team performance and the fitness levels were pretty good.”
United travel to North Leigh in the next round on Saturday August 25 and entertain Holyport tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm.
