Teenagers can find their own five minutes of cyber fame by seeing their photo starring on the front cover of a virtual book online.
Former Lord Williams’s teaching assistant Teri Terry counts the school as one of her biggest inspirations behind her new book for teens, Slated.
She said: “I loved working at Lord Williams and used it for settings and stories.”
The author will not only be signing copies of her book at Aylesbury Waterstone’s on Saturday at 10.30am, but will also take pictures of customers to be included on her website.
She said: “It’s an exciting time and young people love all this sort of thing.”
The 47-year-old author is one of the up and coming stars at the Edinburgh Book Festival next month.
And as a debut author at Edinburgh with Slated, she has been nominated for the Anobii first book award.
Slated, the futuristic novel aimed at 12 to 18 year olds set in 2054, tells a story of sinister Government control.
Would-be terrorist youngsters have their minds wiped clean and microchipped, are taken to a special ‘clinic’ to be retrained, filled with ‘happy juice’ and given a new life.
Slated has been such a success for Teri that it is being translated for publication in France as part of a three-book agreement next year, in addition to translation deals in several other countries, including Germany, Turkey and Israel.
