Motorists in Aylesbury beware – there’s weeks of roadworks ahead connected to the Arla megadairy development.
Bucks County Council says the work, which will centre on Tring Road, will be carried out in a phased approach to minimise disruption.
They are being paid for by Arla, which is being built in College Road North in Aston Clinton, to counter the impact of their lorries on the road network.
Works include:
> Laying of electric and gas supplies to Arla along Tring Road. This is due to be completed before late July.
> Widening and resurfacing College Road North, Aston Clinton commencing on July 2. This should take two to three months.
> Essential bridge maintenance to the Bearbrook Culvert on the A41 Tring Road, due to commence on July 23. It will take place under 24 hour two-way traffic light control and should be complete within a two week period.
> Bedgrove/Broughton Lane roundabout and King Edward Ave/Oakfield Road roundabouts will become signalised junctions with the removal of the roundabouts. The works are also due to commence on July 23.
> Cycleway improvements will be made on the Canal Towpath from the Arla site to the Oakfield Road Bridge in Aylesbury. The timing of this is not yet known.
> The council will resurface parts of Tring Road near Tesco once the other works have been completed.
Peter Hardy, cabinet member for transport, said: “We need to undertake essential bridge repairs and also will be improving the road surface of the A41 and we are co-ordinating these works to try to minimise the delays that road users will face.
“I can only apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst we undertake this work but hope that the residents will soon appreciate the longer term benefits.”
