A jailed paedophile’s victims who are yet to come forward are being encouraged to do so by police.
Former scout leader Robert James Major, who sexually abused a father, his son and another boy, was sentenced to 14 years in prison last week.
But police believe there are still more victims of the 63 year old who have not given evidence against him.
Det Sgt Bob Ducker said: “This has already been a long and sensitive investigation, but we are fully aware there could be more victims of Robert Major who have yet to come forward.
“I want to encourage them to put their confidence in us and have the belief that they would be fully supported every step of the way if they decide to disclose any offences to us.
“It is often the case that victims of sexual abuse have not confided in even their closest family and friends, but I would encourage them to draw strength from the knowledge that they can always expect a sensitive and thorough investigation from our officers.”
Following a trial at Amersham Crown Court, Major was found guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault, four counts of indecency and one count of buggery.
His crimes related to incidents at an Aylesbury address between 1997 and 2001 and two addresses and the leisure centre in the Leighton Buzzard area between 1977 and 1982. The three boys were aged between 10 and 12 when the abuse started.
Major, a former pool supervisor at a Leighton Buzzard leisure centre, was found not guilty of one count of rape.
He will have to sign onto the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Thames Valley Police was first contacted in the summer of 2009 when a man reported his son had been sexually abused by Major at a house in Aylesbury.
Following further inquiries, it was discovered the man who reported the abuse on his son had also been abused by Major when he was a boy.
A third victim was identified in 2010 and provided the investigating team with a statement in February 2012.
The investigation also focused on 42-year-old Brian Bailey, of Abingdon, who was jailed for six years in October 2011 for abusing six boys within a 15-year period.
Bailey lived with Major at the Aylesbury address, but they were not jointly charged with any offences.
Case investigator Jo Simmons said Major abused a position of trust ‘to target young boys by plying them with cigarettes and alcohol’.
