AYLESBURY’S football clubs finally brought their seasons to a close on Tuesday night, after recent downpours saw their weekend matches moved.

Aylesbury FC lost a five-goal thriller 3-2 to North Greenford as they finished the season in 20th place in the Southern League Division One Central on 44 points, 12 clear of relegation.

Elsewhere, an epic comeback of three goals in 10 minutes brought Aylesbury United back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at London Tigers.

United looked dead and buried after going two goals behind early in the second half, despite having much of the play.

Tony Joyce’s side were gifted a penalty lifeline for handball, which Stacey Field gratefully accepted.

But it was Paul Edgeworth who gave Ducks... the edge.

Having had a quiet game he first levelled with a deflected shot which looped up into the net, Joe Donaldson credited the goal for claiming the last touch.

Then, three minutes later, he smashed home a fabulous strike from the edge of the area - and the turnaround was complete.

The result meant United overtake Haringey Borough for fourth place in the league.

Meanwhile, over in Thame, their United ended the season with a 3-0 drubbing at Shortwood United.

The result means Mark West’s men finished in ninth place in the Hellenic League.
