As part of a very strong international field, Wendover Dean dressage rider Nikki Crisp, finished fifth in two Grand Prix classes at Addington Manor earlier this month.
Nikki, 34, is on the British Equestrian Federation’s UK Sport funded World Class Development Programme which works with talented riders to maximize success.
To make the achievement even more remarkable, it was Nikki and Pasoa’s, a 14-year-old mare she owns, first outing at this level in over a year.
The partnership finished just ahead of fellow British rider and current world number two, Carl Hester on 70.149% in the Grand Prix.
They followed this up with a 74.150% in the Grand Prix Freestyle (to music), to again finish fifth, this time just behind fellow Brit Laura Bechtolsheimer (current world number three) in third and Carl in fourth.
“I’m delighted with this result,’ said Nikki.
“This was ‘P’s’ first Grand Prix Freestyle outing for 15 months so to have finished in the top five is just fantastic. I’m now working on a new test which we should be able to showcase later in the season and hopefully score even higher!”
