AYLESBURY UNITED boss Tony Joyce believes the Ducks will not progress until they get more strength in depth.
After an impressive 3-0 win over champions Royston Town, Joyce lamented the lack of resources available.
“It does make it difficult not having a reserve side and youth side to call on,” Joyce said.
“The reserve side is not a neccesity but a youth side would be useful, because in the last few games this season I would liked to have blooded a few youngsters.
“It does mean I have a strong set of 16 or so lads but it would make things easier to have some more to choose from.”
The Ducks have been fortunate not to sustain many injuries this season and have been lucky that when someone has got injured it has happened as another player returned from a spell out.
This was evident when striker Joey Acheampong recently picked up a knock but was replaced in the next game by the returning Melford Simpson.
The striker, who was out for six weeks with an ankle injury, has picked up where he left off with two goals in as many games and Joyce admits he will have a ‘selection headache’ when all his strikers are fit.
With transfer targets in mind, the Ducks boss revealed he is keen to keep his squad together and that the team is ‘genuinely quite happy’. However, he is also perfectly aware he could lose one or two, such is ‘the beast of non-league football’.
