THE first major trophy of the season took place at Weston Turville Golf Club on a cold morning which presented participants with a breezy northerly wind which made scoring all the more difficult.
With the format being better ball medal and with the members having to get used to the competition tees, most teams found pars hard to come by.
But the awkward conditions did not affect the eventual champions Neil Garrett and Steve Leyland who have both been in terrific form this spring,.
The pair made a nonsense of the conditions returning a score of nett 56.
In second place and five shots adrift was Jim McLaughlin and Phil Candy with a nett 61, while in third place with a nett 64 was Jim Cowie and the in-form John Coenen.
In the Ladies section, Debbie Retallick and Jo Beazley played their second round match in the National Daily Mail Foursomes competition against Whiteleaf, giving their opponents six shots in the process.
In a hard fought match they came out victors three and two, although Debbie admitted that her wedge play could have been better.
