A YOUNG police officer died after his car collided with a tree on Friday.
Police Constable Edward McCall, 29, of Whitchurch, was killed at the scene on Whaddon Road, near Mursley.
Superintendent George Wrigley, commander of the local policing authority in Aylesbury, said both officers and staff had been shocked and saddened by the news.
“Ed joined Thames Valley Police in September 2010 and worked as a patrol officer based at Aylesbury,” he said.
“He was a very popular member of his team and was just starting out on his career as a police officer.
“It is very difficult news to absorb when you lose a colleague in such tragic circumstances.
“His colleagues have been very upset but have continued in their service to the public nevertheless.
“We all pass on our condolences to Ed’s girlfriend and his family.”
Edward was driving a A silver Volkswagen Polo towards Milton Keynes when the tragedy took place.
