After their fine performances last year, Aylesbury Town bowlers enjoyed astonishing success in the recent finals at Foxhill Indoor Bowls Club.
Philip Gregory, Mark Newman and Tony Osborne were winners in the men’s fours, (skipped by Paul Maynard) then Philip and Tony, accompanied by Teresa Newman and Maureen Peacock, went on to win the mixed fours (25-9). Philip and Tony were also in the winning men’s triples team which was again skipped by Paul Maynard.
In the individual events, Philip Gregory romped away with crushing wins in the men’s singles and the under 18 singles, winning 21-5 and 21-1.
Meanwhile, Keith Stratfull came out on top against George Milligan in the over 60s despite a strong rally by the latter. Teresa Newman won the ladies’ two-wood singles and was lead in the winning team of the ladies’ triples with Wendy James and Sue Springell. Linda Hewins took the ladies’ singles title in an epic battle against Carol Robertson, winning 21-20. She also won in the ladies’ Drawn pairs with Anne Atkinson by one shot (26-25) after an extra end.
