MORE than 100 schoolchildren will be helping to perform an exciting new piece at Thame Leisure Centre next month, written by a man who went to school in the town.
On March 3, Oxford Pro Musica singers together with 100 schoolchildren and a jazz quintet are performing an exciting new African based arrangement. Zimbe was created by former Lord Williams’s School pupil Alexander L’Estrange who is now a flourishing composer. It is influenced by the notes and rhythms of African music.
The conductor of the show is Michael Smedley. L’Estrange has written music for the hit US TV show Glee, BBC documentary the Romantics, BBC drama Sweeney Todd and created some background music for the Armstrong And Miller Show.
