Swiss youngsters visit Thame to take on the MP Cricket Academy

A team of U13 cricketers from Switzerland made the trip to Thame earlier this month when they learned and played cricket matches against local youngsters from the MP Cricket Academy.

In the morning, the young Swiss cricketers, who usually played on artificial pitches back home, were given a cricket coaching session by head coach Manoj Parmar before they played matches against MP Academy U13s at Long Crendon Cricket Ground.

That was then followed by a visit to Thame Swimming Pool where both teams had a crash course in how to take a diving catch.

For the MP Academy, impressive performances came from Harsh Parmar, Sam Williams, Luke Marriner, Harry Morris, Ryan Monument and Charlie Crabbie, although all the matches were on by the Swiss team.

Manoj said: “Every year 80 to 100 people from around the world visit MP Cricket Academy in Thame and this great opportunity to all local people.

“We are very lucky. The next international team who will visit MP Academy are the Swiss U15 boys in the middle of July.”

MP Academy are also hosting a street cricket party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday on June 10.
