Seasonal goodwill will be in plentiful supply throughout Thame as the fourth Christmas Day lunch takes place at the Masonic Hall.

The event sees a team of volunteers get together to pick up guests from around the town and bring them to a special lunch provided by Community Christmas Thame.

Although the first ever lunch only had nine guests now there are nearer 40.

This year’s event sees guests get picked up at 11.30am and taken home just before 3pm, in time for the Queen’s speech.

Gifts are donated, wrapped and distributed to all the guests.

Volunteers take lunch to those that are housebound and also pull a cracker, open a present with them and provide company while they enjoy the meal.

Organiser Kathy Thomas said: “We are all so grateful to Sainsbury’s and Thame Welfare Trust who sponsor us effortlessly every year.

“Also, many thanks to Waitrose who have helped this year and of course, to my wonderful husband and three children who help in the run up and on the day!

“We are always grateful to Wren’s of Thame who provide all our meaty trimmings.”

Anyone interested in donating gifts can do so by dropping them at the Birdcage in Thame.

Alternatively, if you know of anyone who will be alone this Christmas and would like to come along visit www.communitychristmasthame.org.uk or drop their details in to the Birdcage.

Please note the event takes place at the Masonic Hall.
